It was an absolute pleasure to get to speak with director Ava DuVernay and her leading man David Oyelowo during promotion for the movie SELMA. Oyelowo and DuVernay have worked together previously on the film MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, and their rapport and ability to inspire one another was clearly evident. This dual approach paid off handsomely in SELMA, in which in the British Oyelowo is transformative as Dr. Martin Luther King and DuVernay reveals herself to be a fearless filmmaker. Oyelowo and DuVernay carried tremendous energy to the interview, and fostered us with some great answers to our questions. Their film goes wide in the new year, and is a must-see, and an Oscar contender from Paramount Canada.
