Planet in Focus is Canada’s largest environmental film festival and is taking place from Oct.10th -14th in Toronto. We are proud to be giving away tickets two amazing films at this years festival.

When her single mom runs off to California to pursue her dream of becoming a make-up artist for the stars, Lauduree (Perla Haney-Jardine, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Untraceable), an eighth grader passionate about the environment, clings to her rural home and a science experiment she hopes will help slow climate change. During this troubled time, Lauduree is forced to come to terms with her relationships with the other women in her life: Ms. Markovi, the science club teacher she idolizes (Lili Taylor, Six Feet Under, I Shot Andy Warhol) and Greta, her caustic grandmother superbly played by Amy Madigan (Gone Baby Gone, Field of Dreams).

THE CARBON RUSH – Amy Miller (CANADA) Toronto Premiere

Narrated by Darryl Hannah and produced by Byron Martin, The Carbon Rush, takes audiences on a fascinating journey to four continents to meet indigenous rainforest dwellers, independent farmers and waste pickers. Amy Miller investigates hydroelectric dams in Panama, incinerators in India and biogas production in Honduras, painting a picture of carbon credit projects that aim to be sustainable and offer innovative solutions to climate change, but seem to create more problems than they solve.
