Designing 007: 50 Years of Bond Style
James Bond is looking pretty fantastic for fifty.
The world of the legendary British spy is on full display at TIFF Lightbox now through January 20th with a fascinating and detailed look at everything-Bond in Designing 007: 50 Years of Bond Style.
It is far more than just suits and dresses, though there are many of those including the attires of everyone from the poker match featured in Casino Royale, and Bond’s wedding tuxedo from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. It is props and gadgets, storyboards and renderings, and plenty of clips from the 22 Bond films.
The golden room featuring a life-size Jill Masterson painted gold, splayed on a turning bed, from Goldfinger. You can see Oddjob’s hat, Francisco Scaramanga’s golden gun, and Jaws’, well, jaws. Any Bond fan will relish in the exhibit, with every movie getting recognition, with plenty from Bond girls, villains, and Q (including some regard for the new Quartermaster, played by Ben Winshaw.
It is easy to get lost in the serpentine exhibit, but you’re really not going to want to leave. Make a few passes to ensure you catch everything that there is, including a look at Javier Bardem and Berenice Marlohe’s outfits from the forthcoming Skyfall.
Now, if only they were serving martinis there. Or is that a Heineken?
