Cinema Eh! Canadian Film Fest 2012
The Canadian Film Fest bursts back into the festival scene this month after a four year hiatus. The CFF which previously enjoyed a five year stint from 2004-2008, is back in the game and bringing the best of Canadian cinema to the Royal!
The 2012 program is a smorgasbord of Canadiana fare, featuring nine feature films and ten shorts from emerging and established filmmakers. Thom Fitzgerald’s Cloudburst will be kicking things off. The film based on Fitzgerald’s hit play stars Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker, and updates Thelma and Louise to the same sex marriage issue.
There will also be World Premiere screenings of Kirk Caouette’s Hit N’Strum, Jesse Mann’s Material Success and Senthil Vinu’s Waiting for Summer. And a Canadian Premiere screening of The Unleashed from Manuel H. DaSilva. With films spanning every genre–dealing with topics that matter to Canadians to light subjects that tickle our funny bone there will definitely be something to suit everyone’s tastes.
In addition to the lineup of films CFF will be hosting industry & public panels that will be announced closer to the festival’s run.
CFF runs from March 28-31 and we really encourage everyone to head on over to the Royal and support some homegrown talent! The festival runs from March 28-31.
