It was such a pleasure to learn about the Oscar Shorts from Magali Simard, Short Cuts Programmer at TIFF and Manager, Film Programmes at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

Now, not only are you set to win your Oscar pool, but Simard also provides a first-hand account of the nominees, having programmed many of them at the Festival and throughout the year at the Lightbox.

Simard highlights which shorts are essentially viewing, a necessity as the Live Action and Animated Shorts programmes are yearly highlights at the Lightbox, and both are opening Friday, January 30th.

Simard mentions that many of the Oscar nominees are currently playing at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, and are required viewing. Sometimes, even Shorts experts excel at going long.
