Synopsis:
Back in 1970, musician Jeffrey Kagel hit a crossroads in his life. He had a promising career having just been offered a gig as the lead singer for an up-and-coming band (which eventually became Blue Öyster Cult), but an all-consuming drug addiction and depression left him feeling empty and unmotivated. Kagel sold all of his earthly possessions, and fled Long Island for the hills of the Himalayas to “find himself”. While in India, Kagel befriended the guru Neem Karoli Baba who set him on a new spiritual course through the use of his musical talent. Soon Kagel, now re-named Krishna Das, became a world-renowned spiritual teacher, chant master and Grammy-nominated musician. Jeremy Frindel’s fascinating doc, One Track Heart: The Story of Krishna Das, charts how this hard rock singer became the modern day master of Indian devotional music and how his personal pursuit for happiness has influenced the spiritual welfare of thousands of others.
