Good Scenes Come to Those Who Wait

Post-credit scenes have been eluding moviegoers for years. For those of you who claim you stay seated after the credits roll “to respect the film and the people who made it”, that’s a bunch of horse manure. We all know you just want to see if there’s an extra clip at the end.

11. Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004)
In this short outtake, we get to see Uma Thurman at her best – sweaty, vengeful, and yanking out one-eyed Elle’s namesake. Shot in black and white, the scene plays through the pull and the pop before Thurman insists, “Oh come on, let’s do it again”.

10. Clerks (1994)
This is one of those scenes that can really only be appreciated by fans of the movie. For those of you (including myself) who enjoyed sitting through Clerks, stick around for Jay’s silly little ditty at the very end.

9. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)
In this post-credit scene, the news team is walking away from the van together, communicating with each other in classic Anchorman-esque style. “Ah, we’re laughing and enjoying each other’s friendship!” Ron remarks that they’ll look back on this time with fondness before the mood is killed and they quietly exit the screen.

8. Finding Nemo (2003)
As the screen fades from ocean blue to black, Pixar takes its audience into the deepest part of the ocean once again. An adorable little fish swims unknowingly through the darkness until it comes upon a hypnotic glowing light. Captivated, it doesn’t realize that the light is attached to a huge scary angler fish, but the angler is in for a surprise this time!

7. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)
Will Ferrell stars in another post-credit scene as the alive-but-badly-injured Mufasa. Ferrell nails the comedy of this short bit without even appearing onscreen.

6. Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets (2002)
In a quick but funny post-credit scene, the audience gets to see whatever became of Professor Gilderoy Lockhart who, under the influence of a spell, is now an amnesiac.

5. Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004)
An obese Ben Stiller dances to “Milkshake” by Kelis while juggling his man tits around. Need I say more?

4. Adventures in Babysitting (1987)
A staple of the 80′s, this film ends like most movies of that era; Elizabeth Shue gets hooked up with a much nicer boy than the one she started with and everybody laughs and smiles as the credits start to roll, probably to something by Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes. But then we see the post-credit shot in which Graydon is still standing on the ledge of the building, crying. A bit dark, no?

3. Iron Man (2008)
In this great hidden scene, fans everywhere were thrilled to see Samuel L. Jackson appearing as Nick Fury and hinting at something called “the Avengers Initiative”. (I’m not gonna lie, I about peed my pants when I saw this in theaters.)

2. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
Another fantastic 80′s classic, Ferris takes a moment at the end of this movie to mock the theatergoers that stay till the very end, (thus also satisfying their desire for more sarcastic adolescent witticisms.)

1. Airplane! (1980)
Setting the precedent for all other parody films and possibly comedic post-credit scenes, Airplane! throws in a legitimately funny extra line as the passenger in the taxi from earlier says, “I’ll give 20 more minutes, but that’s it!”

  1. Great list. Brings back memories. :)

  2. Yes , something those early to leave fail to see

  3. I’d have to include the Zombie Pirate Monkey at the end of Pirates Of The Caribbean. It was worth sitting through eight minutes of credits.
